I am a certified Personal Trainer, Fitness Nutritionist and certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner and have been in the health and wellness industry for over 10 years. In the beginning of my fitness career, I focused so much on calories that I overlooked ingredients and while I was in the best physical shape of my life, my health was suffering. I struggled with endometriosis, fibroids and hormonal imbalances for years. And I met more and more women in the gym who were suffering with similar hormonal issues, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, inability to lose weight, PCOS, thyroid dysfunction and other nagging symptoms they couldn't get to the bottom of. A lot of them assumed it was genetic or part of the aging process, but I knew there had to be more. It wasn't until I took a deeper dive into holistic health and nutrition that I realized how much junk was all around us- in our food, in our environment, in our busy lifestyles that piled on the stress- it was an eye opener for me. My outlook changed from "health and fitness" to "health and wellness" and I started focusing less on calories and macros and more on ingredients. I not only wanted my clients to look their best, I wanted them to FEEL their best. I took a holistic approach with my nutrition clients and saw a huge change in their health and quality of life. I took the same approach within my own life- removing toxic ingredients from my household cleaners, skin care, beauty products and food. My endometriosis improved, my hormones balanced, my skin cleared- I felt better in my 30's than I did in my 20's...until I had my daughter. Hey Covid Moms, where y'all at!? PPD and PPA hit me real hard in 2020 and I developed a long list of crazy symptoms that even landed me in the ER! But every doc said my favorite line... "you're labs are normal, you're fine". But I didn't feel fine. I finally found a Functional Medicine Practitioner that listened to me, ran more thorough labs and linked my insanely high cortisol to my ongoing health issues. Anxiety and stress caused real health problems that no doctor wanted to acknowledge. Not one doctor asked about my lifestyle, my diet or my stress level. They saw a young, healthy (on the outside) woman and dismissed me. I knew I never wanted to feel that way again and didn't want any of my clients or other woman to feel that way either. So I went back to school in 2021 for Functional Medicine and made it my mission to help people find the root cause of their symptoms and to feel heard. My own health journey led me here and I am grateful for what I have learned along the way. I look forward to helping you along yours!

Functional Medicine is a client centered approach to healthcare that looks to identify the root cause of illness. We look deep into a persons diet, lifestyle and stress level to identify the underlying cause of illness, rather than just treating the symptoms. We believe all body systems are connected and imbalances in one area can affect others. For example, estrogen is metabolized in the liver. If you have high estrogen, most doctors would see that as a sign of hormonal dysfunction within the endocrine system. But they could be placing the blame on a system that is working just fine, when in reality the liver is congested and not filtering out excess hormones as it should. We could be medicating an organ system that is not at fault in order to alleviate symptoms of excess estrogen, but not fixing the underlying issue at the source. This is where functional lab testing comes in. We take a whole body approach and run more detailed, thorough labs to get to the root cause of imbalances. And rather than treating the symptoms, we remove the toxins that are overloading your system and give your body the nourishment and tools it needs to heal itself.
